Google launches Mobile Banner Ads

Google has announced that it is launching graphical display ads for mobile phones. The ads will be displayed depending on keywords that appear on the mobile website in a similar fashion to their current text-based ads.

The ads will be similar to those that currently appear on websites but will be smaller and there will only be one ad per page. They will use the pay-per-click model and will require that the ad is linked to a mobile-specific landing page.

There are 4 ad sizes approved by Google for mobile. The sizes and the file size limits are below. The images must be in either .jpg, .gif, or .png format.

Alexandra Kenin, product marketing manager on the Google Mobile Ads team and Sanjay Agarwal, software engineer will talk more about Google Mobile Ads in the video clip below.
