China's Car Sales Up 26% First Half of This Year

The China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) announced that car sales in the middle kingdom were up 25.9% over last year.

- 2.29 million cars were sold - up 22.3%
- 107,000 MPVs (multipurpose vehicles) were sold - up 12.9%
- 158,000 SUVs were sold - up 39.3%

The best sellers were:
1. Santana
2. Jetta
3. Excelle
4. Camry
5. QQ

The top carmakers were:
1. FAW Volkswagen
2. Shanghai Volkswagen
3. Chery
4. Dongfeng-Nissan
5. Guangzhou Honda

Looks like China is taking on the shape of America while in the US, GM, FORD and DaimlerChrysler continue to restructure.
